Shannon Airport

Option 1 – Via Motorway (68 km / c. 1 hour)

1.  Leave Shannon Airport on the airport road / N19.
2.  At the first (mini) roundabout take the first exit and proceed straight through 3 more roundabouts
3.  At the junction widh the M18 take the first exit off the roundabout towards Galway
4.  Continue on the M18 until Crusheen (c. 25 km)
5.  Exit the motorway following signs for Gort.  You will cross one roundabout and go through Crusheen village
6.  c. 1km outside Crusheen village take the first left towards Tubber / Boston. You will cross over a very tight bridge that turns sharp right Рplease drive slowly)
7. ¬†Follow this road (“The New Line”) to the very end – c. 24 km
8. ¬†Turn LEFT up the hill (“The Corker”) and continue for 10 km
n.b. you will pass:
– a right turn for ‘Bell Harbour & Ballyvaughan’
– two more right turns
Рthrough a small unsigned village (Turlough)
– Cusack’s football pitch on the left – a big grey wall with plants growing up it and flood lights behind
Рthrough a cutting in the rock where the road bends sharply.  This brings you into our valley
– two 2-storey houses close together
– a small white bungalow
9. Take  the next  RIGHT onto the gravel road.  (There are two bins on the corner)
10.  Turn RIGHT at the T-junction opposite the white bungalow
11. ¬†Keep right when the road splits. ¬†There is a yellow ‘beware of the bull’ sign on our gate and there may be electric wand gates across the drive – please drive through them slowly. ¬†Please be careful on this corner as this is a two way road
12.  You will find us in the blue cottage on the right

Option 2 – via Ennis & Corofin (58 km / c. 45-50 mins)

1.  Leave Shannon Airport on the airport road / N19.
2.  At the first (mini) roundabout take the first exit and proceed straight through 3 more roundabouts
3.  At the junction with the M18 take the first exit off the roundabout towards Galway
4.  Continue on the M18 until the Ennis / N85 Exit
5.  Follow signs for Ennistymon crossing 5 roundabouts
6.  At the 6th roundabout turn LEFT (first exit) continuing on the N85 towards Ennistymon
7.  After leaving Ennis take the second RIGHT turn (the first major junction) onto R476 towards Corofin
8.  Continue on this road, through Corofin and then Kilnaboy, for 17km
9.  At Leamaneh Castle turn RIGHT onto R480 towards Ballyvaughan & Carron
n.b.  this junction is recognisable by the large 4 storey stone ruin.  The road sweeps round to the left at the junction with the R480
10.  Take the 2nd right (2.4 km from Leamaneh) towards Carran
11.  Travel 8.7 km.  You will pass through:
– Carran Village & Cassidy’s pub
– a cutting in the rock where the road goes steeply down and bends left & right
12. ¬†Immediately after the cutting in the rock turn LEFT onto the gravel road (there are two bins on the corner. ¬†This turning is also the FIRST left after Cassidy’s Pub – c. 3km from the pub
13.  Turn RIGHT at the T-junction opposite the white bungalow
